Getting to Know Local 636
Many years ago, utility workers in Ontario were represented by separate Local Unions which shared common goals, but lacked direction. As a result, it became increasingly difficult to effectively defend the interests of the members against full time management organizations with access to a province-wide communications network.
Recognizing the strength in unity, these independent locals joined together to form what is now Local Union 636.
Today, Local 636 represents not only utility workers, but also men and women employed in various types of industry from Windsor to Ottawa. Local 636 is large enough to serve and small enough to care with:
- Full-time Business Representatives
- Experienced Legal Counsel
- Regional Offices across the Province with full time support staff
- State-of-the-art technology to serve our members' needs
- Regional Representatives elected by the members
Local 636 is built on a foundation of honesty, openness, and accountability. Our commitment is to provide democratic, responsible, professional representation.
